Emma Lamb, Our New Marketing Executive

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Heswall, Wirral with my Mum and two sisters and lived there until I went to University in Sheffield. After University, I worked in Spain for the summer and then came back to the Wirral where I have lived ever since. I currently live in Port Sunlight with my husband and 2 girls, aged 3 and 6.

Where did you go to school?

I went to Ladymount Primary School and then Pensby High School for Girls.

What was your first job?

My first ever job was a Saturday job at Gerrards bakery. I was a (terrible) waitress, wore a hideous green uniform with a frilly apron and always came home smelling of pasties!

What interested you most about hi-impact when you were applying?

Previously, I have been working as a freelance content writer for a web design company – working with brands to create copy for their websites. I have also worked with food brands on my Instagram account so my love for marketing has grown from here. When I found the job advertised for hi-impact I did research into the company and really loved reading about their background and ethos. The role also offered a great opportunity to learn and develop my skills.

If you could give any advice to any aspiring Marketer/Content Creator, what would it be?

I think my main advice would be to try to stay ahead of the game and research and follow marketing blogs and platforms to keep up to date with the latest information and trends.

Cats or dogs? (This is the most important question of all!)

This might be cheating but I love both! We would love to have a dog but life is crazy enough with our girls at the moment!

Battling through the crevices of splintered pinewood scrapes the polyurethane blade; bellowing a manic, skull piercing shriek at every turn, spin and pirouette – Beauty and repellence entwined in a graceful ballet of violence…

Tell us more about Roller Derby! What is it and how did you get involved?

I started Roller Derby before I had children and was looking for a new hobby! I have always loved to skate and saw an advert for try outs on Facebook and decided to give it a go. I also love the film ‘Whip It’ and thought it looked like a fun yet violent way of keeping fit!

Roller Derby is a contact team sport played on quad roller skates. There are two teams of 5 on the track and the main aim is to get your ‘jammer’ through the pack whilst trying to block the opposing teams ‘jammer’ getting through. I loved the team dynamic of Roller Derby and also that it’s such an inclusive sport meaning that no matter what size, age or ability, everyone can play.
