Wheelbarrow Racing
WOW DAY

Gear up for an exhilarating adventure as primary school pupils embrace the spirit of competition and teamwork through our thrilling wheelbarrow racing workshop, where they’ll experience the joy of planning, building, and camaraderie in a fun-filled racing event.
‘The children were completely engaged and excited!’
WOW DAY OVERVIEW
Pupils work in teams to design and assemble full size wheelbarrows to transport objects over a distance within a set time.
WOW DAY ACTIVITIES
Initially pupils organise their kit to familiarise themselves with the equipment and their teammates. They then construct 2D shapes to learn how to connect and strengthen their builds. After discussing the key parts of a wheelbarrow, pupils build their own, testing and evaluating as they go, to improve mobility and carriage of their load. Finally they can put their designs into practice in a fun race to see which machine is best.
